We’re excited to announce the availability of Academy, a new learning activity in mLevel. Academy introduces several new learning concepts, including an Open-book style of learning, Adaptive Questioning (smart questions), Player-centric Analytics, and Real-time Feedback. With these features combined, learners get an immersive, focused, learning experience.
It’s been proven that open-book learning helps increase retention, allowing the learner to focus on the meaning of the information, and not just memorizing it. In Academy, we’ve leveraged our Knowledge Navigator activity and brought this functionality direction into the learning experience, providing an open-book style of learning.
Why not skip the content the learner already knows and focus on the areas the learner is struggling with? In Academy, if a player answers a certain number of questions correctly about a specific topic item, we assume the player already knows this information. This allows you to assess learners with less questions and less time.
This in-game feedback on topic-item progress helps the learner understand their strengths and weaknesses, giving the learner an instant view of their progress on the learning topics. At the end of the game, the learner is presented with a summary of all questions they engaged with. Learners can get a more detailed view of their progress by drilling into each topic.
Feedback is displayed to the learner in real-time as they answer questions. As an Admin, you can configure custom feedback for both correct and incorrect responses. This helps provide context to the learners’ responses.
Creating an Academy activity is easy. Simply login to Mission Manager and select “Academy” when adding a new activity to your mission. For now, you’re required to use manual questions (either multiple choice or true/false) for Academy questions. In the future, we’ll add the ability to create questions using question templates. Custom branding for Academy will also be available in the near future.
